Great books list! I’m finally reading Shark Heart! And wow—this is a unique book! And soon I plan to pick up Eldest, as I reread through the Inheritance Cycle to *finally* read Murtagh.
I had never even heard of this book. The description + book cover DO NOT MATCH upon googling, so it would be a hard pass if it hadn't come so highly recommended.
Also didn't know Paolini had released another book in that series! Report back if Murtagh is worth the read. ;)
Bravo to your church for reading the Taussig memoir and taking disability theology to heart! If they want more for their list, My Body Is Not a Prayer request is also an excellent look at how the church in particular treats disabled people. I read it for a class years ago and it changed how I looked at the church's approach to healing.
"Sitting Pretty" has definitely stuck with me and will continue to. Taussig writes from both a personal and academic perspective, and the book is only 250 pages, so very readable. I highly recommend!

I enjoyed Shark Heart! It was WEIRD but beautiful.
“Weird but beautiful” is a great way to describe it!

Roger that 🫡
Deacon King Kong was a wild ride of a book! Making Time is on my TBR.
Wild ride in a good way?!? Like should I check it back out?
I enjoyed it!

It sounds like you had a great month of reading!
Adding "My Body..." to my personal TBR, even if my church doesn't read it (or maybe they already did before I got here?).
Oooh, I loved listening to the Laura Ingalls Wilder books with my kids, too. I'm curious about the first book you mentioned. Looks like a good read.
